Osmodrama Festival for Olfactory Art in Berlin

Osmodrama is the art of timebased composing and storytelling with scents via Smeller 2.0. — Smeller 2.0 is a functional artwork and electronic medium for the creation, recording and projection of distinct scent-sequences in collective experience. This opens up a new practice of olfactory art: Osmodrama. The first festival of its kind is now on schedule in Berlin, from 15th July until 18th September 2016.

Paper Passion

The Paper Passion perfume conceived for Handmade 2011, which bottles the seductive scent of a freshly printed books, was inspired by a throwaway line by German publisher Gerhard Steidl in the film How to Make a Book with Steidl, which suggested his favourite scent was a ‘freshly printed book’. Tracing Smell in Art

In the context of upcoming research on the sense of smell in contemporary art practice, Ashraf Osman recently conducted interviews with two key players in the realm: Brian Goeltzenleuchter, an artist based in San Diego, CA, and Robert Blackson, a curator based in Philadelphia, PA.
